Brake fluid was changed/bled at 13, 530 miles with DOT 5.1 MOTUL.  Bled clutch fluid as well.

I purchased some new pads from https://www.essexparts.com

The front pads were changed with CL pads with RC6 compound (CL RC6  5038W45T14,5) instead of Ferodo "Fast Road"

This morning I decided to take the car for its annual inspection before the ice storm began. I started the car in the garage to warm-up the engine and the cabin. About 15 minutes later, I got back in the car and put it into reverse to back it out of the garage...suddenly I noticed the car was going forward instead of in reverse. I tried to shift the gear into reverse couple more times but something was preventing it . I was not sure what it was, so I asked my son to push the car a bit so it could easily roll down the driveway. I thought it might be a good idea to drive it around the block and then back in to the garage. Then test the reverse again.

Once the car was in front of the driveway, I tried to put it into first, but it seemed to only want to go into third. After a couple of more tries the gear lever came off! I was totally shocked but also grateful that this did not happened on the road.

After realizing the car was not drivable, I tried to use my tow car to move the car close enough to the garage so I could push it back in. I got some rope and tied it to the hitch ball of the tow car and tied the other end to the Sector111 tow hook. As I tried to go forward and pull the car slowly, the tow hook suddenly snapped! This was getting to be one of those days you wished had started differently.

After looking around for about 20 minutes I managed to find another tow hook and was able to pull the car up the drive way close to the garage. We pushed the car inside finally. Here are some picture of my findings. Unbelievably flimsy and cheap construction!

The above is how it should look

Snapped tow hook!

Speechless!

Found this spacer that looks to be from the end of the gear lever

I just received the gear lever - part # A120F0017S

A120F0017S

A120F0017S  A120F0017S  A120F0017S  A120F0017S

A120F0017S  A120F0017S  A120F0017S  A120F0017S  A120F0017S

The part was replaced and I still think this is one flimsy construction.  The design is as such that over time it will fail. There are some groves on top of the blue ball. That is where everything starts to crack. Once sections come apart, it will jam the ball and there after the metal section begins to bend, fracture and eventually fail.

I took the car for annual inspection today.  Now it is back in the garage resting!

January 14, 2017

The car was taken to Baker/Victory Lotus in Princeton NJ and back.  They perform the oil cooler recall 2014/01R.  They also fixed the LED vanes.

The Auto Meter pressure sender (not the gauge) was replaced today with "Auto Meter 2242 Short Sweep Electric Oil Pressure Sender"

Touchdown - After months of being lifted of the ground, the weather today is warm enough that it's time to take it out and drive it around the block.  Also it is time to feed it some fresh gas ...

May 15, 2017

This car has been a blast for the past five years and it was time to move on to other things.  The car and trailer was sold as a package to a true Lotus enthusiast who is going to race this car and enjoy it as much as I did.  It will be missed but I am happy that it has gone to a good home.
